Gmail Turns 5 Years Old Remember Asking Friends For Invites?

Its been 5 years since we all started using GMail.

They launched the site back in 2004 providing more email space then most people thought they would ever use.

Today with people exchanging more video and pictures that idea was probably a good forecast of what users would eventually need but giving up that much space had us thinking this just won’t last.

Word of mouth invites to the Beta of Gmail were probably its best advertising gimmick. You had to know someone who had an account then wait a period of time before you could build up new invites for your other friends.

Today GMail is still free and they are under a perpetual Beta but they do offer business solutions for domain email.

Anyway Happy Birthday to Gmail

and many more we hope!
