NY Times Says You Can Look But Have To Pay To Come Inside Paid Content

cashLike many newspapers the NY Times is not alone in losing revenue.

Many small papers already require registration but not payment to see current articles and others require payment if you want to see historic content…

But in 2011 the New York Times will begin Paid Content.

Some of their teaser content will still be available and there is no word if their excerpts will be published to sites like google news…

The thing is most newspapers even large ones like the times fill themselves with syndicated content and the wires have been online and willing to give away breaking news faster then you can get it from other sources.

The problem the Times will have is trying to convince online readers to pay for content that they can get someplace else…. or convincing readers that their opinion is most important.

Well it will be a very interesting future… but i tell you one thing if they make CNN or MSNBC a paid channel like HBO I wont be ordering it…

Technology is changing…

One day we will see tweets about an earth quake in Haiti and be able to get on a live satellite view on google maps.

But it probably won’t happen until after we get flying cars.
